TSU plans Band Day for Sept. 14

Troy State University’s Sound of the South Marching Band will join musical forces with 20 regional high school bands for its Saturday, Sept. 14, halftime performance at the Troy State-Southern Utah football game.
The show will be the culmination of the band program’s fourth annual Band Day activities, according to Kim Stone, spokesperson for the band.
"About 1,400 students will perform together on the field, and roughly 200 band directors will observe from the stands," Stone said. "Band Day is an excellent recruitment tool for our program as well as the university. It gives high school students a chance to not only see a college football game, but to participate in one as well."
The united bands will perform "Hot Stuff," "My Home’s in Alabama" and the Trojan Fight Song. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at Richard M. Scrushy Field at Memorial Stadium. For ticket information call 1-877-TSU-TICS.
Scheduled participants in TSU Band Day are Brantley High School, Cairo (Ga.) High School, Callaway (Ga.) High School, Charles Henderson High School and Charles Henderson Middle School of Troy, Cottonwood High School, Dale County High School, Escambia County High School, Eufaula High School, Excel High School, Florala High School, Goshen High School, Highland Home School, Monroe Academy, Notasulga High School, Reeltown High School, Slocomb High School, Vincent High School, Wicksburg High School, and Zion Chapel High School.
