Top students and faculty to be recognized at TSU Honors Convocation
Troy State University will recognize its top students and faculty at the annual Honors Convocation on Monday, April 21, with Dr. David Potts, President of Judson College, as the keynote speaker.
The event will begin at 7 p.m. in the Claudia Crosby Theater. The public is invited to attend.
“This is an important event in the life of the university and one that is highly anticipated each year,” said Provost Fred Davis, the university’s chief academic official.
The convocation is designed to honor students in the areas of education, business, arts and sciences, the fine arts and health and human services. Highlights include the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award, which recognizes recipients for spiritual qualities in addition to academic and extracurricular activities; and the Ingalls Award for Excellence in Classroom Teaching, which is presented to an outstanding member of the faculty.
Dr. Potts, a native of Birmingham, has been the President of Judson College since 1990. Prior to becoming president he was the Executive Vice President for Administration of Judson College and before that he was Assistant to the President at Samford University.
He is a member of the Executive Council, Commission on Colleges, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. He is a member of the honor societies of Kappa Delta Pi, Sigma Beta Delta and Who’s Who Registry of Business Leaders. He is a member of the Board of Directors for Alabama Independent Colleges and Marion Academy. Dr. Potts is also a member of the Board of Directors for Alabama Poverty Project and Sowing Seeds of Hope.
