Symposium, set for Wednesday, April 9.
The symposium is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. in the Trojan

prior to the event.
Students who received the 2002-03 Chancellor’s Fellowships
or the 2002-03 Trojan Pride Scholarship will give the presentations. Those students

Hand.”
· Jake Hill, a History major, whose research topic was “Innovation
and the American Civil War.”
· Sandy P. Gibson, a Biology and Environmental Science
major, whose research topic was “Lichens as Bioindicators of Lead Deposition
in Troy, Alabama?”
Following the presentations, the 2003-04 winners will be announced.
Recipients will work with a faculty sponsor on a research project during the
upcoming academic year and present the findings of their research at the next
spring symposium.
A Chancellor’s Fellowship, funded through the University
Foundation, provides the student with $1,800 for the academic year. The winner
of the Trojan Pride Scholarship, which is funded through the proceeds from the
sell of TSU automobile tags, receives $825 for the academic year.
Recipients of these awards must have a minimum overall Grade

10 hours per week under the direction of a faculty sponsor.
