   Sound of the South to present outdoor concert
   The “Sound of the South” Concert Band will provide an evening of light concert music at its annual spring concert at Troy State University on Thursday, April 17.
   Under the direction of Raymond H. Smith, Associate Professor of Music, the concert will begin at 6 p.m. in the TSU amphitheatre. Everyone is invited to attend and encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets and picnic baskets.
   Selections for the evening include John Philip Sousa’s “Washington Post” march, Von Souppe’s “The Light Cavalry Overture” and Grainger’s “Lincolnshire Posy.”
   Dr. Johnny Long, Director Emeritus of Bands at TSU, will be featured as guest conductor on Jerry Bilik’s “American Civil War Fantasy.” Graduate percussion assistant Bryden Atwater will be soloist in the light hearted “The Worried Drummer.”
