Journalism Symposium scheduled for April 10
“Money, Politics and the Media” will be
the topic of discussion at the Journalism Symposium set for Thursday,
April 10 at Troy State University.
Sponsored by the Hall School of Journalism, the symposium will
begin at 10 a.m. in Claudia Crosby Theater. The event is open to the public and
free of charge.
A panel of journalists and financial analysts will discuss
the topic of how media cover the business world and then answer questions from
the audience.
Chris Warden, assistant professor of journalism at TSU, will
serve as moderator.
Following the symposium will be a luncheon and the presentation
of Excellence in Alabama Journalism Awards. For more information, contact Dr.

Symposium panelists are:
- M. Stanton Evans
is president of the Education and Research Institute in Washington, D.C.,
a syndicated columnist and author. He received his B.A. degree from Yale
University and an honorary doctorate of laws from Syracuse University
Terry Jones is the associate editor for Investor’s Business Daily.
He has covered The Third World debt crisis, has worked for The Associated
Press and for Business Week’s Pacific Basin Bureau. He received his
B.S. degree from the University of California, Los Angeles and a master’s
degree from UCLA.
Peter Pfabe is the director of global marketing for Citigroup’s Asset
Management. Before that he was a senior marketing associate for Sanford C.
Bernstein & Co., a New York-based asset management firm. Before joining
Sanford C. Bernstein & Co., He received his B.S. degree from the U.S.
Naval Academy.
Michael Woods is the vice president of product development for Emerald Publications.
He has created marketing material for more than 50 of the nation’s
largest financial services companies. He has written for dozens of financial
publications, including the Harvard Business Review, Worth Magazine, and
Investor’s Business Daily. He received his M.B.A. from the University
of Southern California and a master’s degree from Boston University.
