Judy Brighton-Enfinger wins July McKinley Award
Judy Brighton-Enfinger, Assistant Director of the Office of Sponsored Programs, is the winner of the Vergil Parks McKinley Award for July at Troy State University.
Brighton-Enfinger, a TSU employee for 15 years, received the award during a ceremony in Sartain Hall on Monday, July 28. Dr. Jack Hawkins Jr., Chancellor, presented the award to Brighton-Enfinger, who was nominated by Dr. Angie Roling, Vice President of the Office of Institutional Research, Planning and Effectiveness.
The McKinley Award, the highest honor that TSU gives to a non-faculty staff member, is presented monthly to an employee who has demonstrated outstanding attitude, innovation and work ethic. The award was established by former Texaco CEO John McKinley in honor of his father, Vergil Parks McKinley, who was a TSU professor during the early 20th century and was key to the development of the university’s athletic program. Award winners receive an engraved clock and a $300 stipend.
The letter of nomination described Brighton-Enfinger as a tremendous asset to Troy State University.
“Judy has worked with me since the late 1980s, and she has proven herself repeatedly to be invaluable,” Roling said in her letter of nomination. “She is dependable, efficient, and willing to go beyond the usual expectations to get any and all tasks done. In addition to her assets as a solid worker and contributor to Troy State University, she is a person of excellent character and religious values.”
In addition to her normal duties, Brighton-Enfinger, a TSU alumna, served as logistics coordinator for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools visit to the Troy campus earlier this year.
“She was available 24/7 for the SACS visit to Troy, but she maintained her regular tasks in the Office of Sponsored Programs,” the letter said. “She worked diligently for weeks to prepare for the SACS visit and to implement the logistics of the SACS visit to Troy.”
Brighton-Enfinger, who lives in Troy with her son Jonah, said she was humbled to receive the award.
“This is a huge honor and I am very humbled,” she said. “It is just great to be a part of Troy State University. TSU is like a family to me, and I am glad that I can be a part of this wonderful team.”
