   ‘The Merry Widow’ to be presented at TSU on March 8

   "The Merry Widow" will be presented by the Troy State University Opera Ensemble on Saturday, March 8 at 7:30 p.m. in the Claudia Crosby Theater on campus.
   This event is open to all and admission is free, according to Dr. Catherine Allard, Professor of Music and director of the production.
   This comic operetta tells the stories of two loves. One pair, Danilo and Sophie, is separated by circumstance but find one another again. The other pair, de Rossillon and Natalie, may never find true happiness since one of them is already wed and is determined to continue as a “dutiful wife.”
   The cast consists of:
· Rob McFarland of Wilmington, Del.
· Tommy Newman of Hawkinsville, Ga.
· Jason Gunter of Andalusia
· Terrence Cobb of Fitzgerald, Ga.
· Bethany Kennington of Eclectic
· Jerin Offord of Montgomery
· April Jacobs of Phenix City
· Catherine Allard, TSU vocal instructor.

   The second act of "The Merry Widow" will feature selections from "Gounod’s Faust," Mozart’s "Magic Flute" and "The Mikado."
