January 10, 2003 TSU choruses selected to perform for state Music Educators Association The Troy State University Chamber Choir and Collegiate Singers have been selected to perform during the Alabama Music Educators Association’s annual convention to be held next week in Auburn. The choruses were selected by taped audition, and will perform Jan. 16 in Peet Theatre at Auburn University. The performance will include “Hymn to the Cherubim” by Tchaikovsky, the English anthem “With a Voice of Singing” and a jazz arrangement of “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands.” The TSU Chamber Choir will perform a set of “Four Pastorales” for a cappella choir with solo oboe, which will be played by TSU senior Ashlie Keylon. “It is a real honor to be chosen to appear at the AMEA convention,” said Paul McGahie, director of choral activities at TSU. “Our students have proven that they can make the grade when it comes to performing choral music with accuracy, style, and beauty.” As a part of an AMEA project, the choruses also will be performing at Auburn and Enterprise high schools. The next choral performance, “Carmina Burana,” will
be March 15, at 8 p.m. in the Claudia Crosby Theatre on the TSU campus. Contact: |
