January 14, 2003 Gilbert and Sullivan revue planned for TSU Jan. 23 "The World of Gilbert and Sullivan" will be presented by the Troy Arts Council at Troy State University’s Claudia Crosby Theatre at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 23. Performed by Opera A La Carte, this production features songs famous operas such as "The Pirates of Penzance," "H.M.S. Pinafore" and "The Mikado." Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for students. They may be purchased at local banks, WTBF, the Colley Senior Center or the John M. Long School of Music at TSU. For more information call the school of music at 670-3322. Opera A La Carte was founded in 1970 by Richard Sheldon, a noted British Gilbert and Sullivan specialist. Starting as a small concert ensemble, it has now expanded and has become a Gilbert and Sullivan repertory organization. This production will also include selections from "The Gondoliers," "Trial by Jury" and "The Yeomen of the Guard."
