jazz ensemble to take Florida trip; play at Disney World The Troy State University Jazz Ensemble will spend part of its spring break in Florida, but it won’t be all play and no work, as the ensemble members will perform four times in two days. The highlight of the trip will be the chance to perform at Disney World, according to Ralph Ford, Director of Bands at TSU, who also directs the Jazz Ensemble. The group will perform Tuesday, March 25, at 3:45 p.m. at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café in Tomorrowland, which bills itself as the world’s largest indoor restaurant, with room for about 1,000 patrons. The tour also includes three events on Monday, March 24, Ford said. A 9 a.m. concert is scheduled at Interlochen High School, followed by a 3 p.m. jazz clinic for the band program at Leesburg High School. The day’s events will end with a 7:30 p.m. concert at Lee High School. “This will be a great experience for our students,” Ford said. “They will always remember getting to perform at Disney World, and the trips to the high schools will enhance our recruiting efforts. The tour will begin Sunday, March 23, and the students will return Wednesday, March 26. |
