   Dr. Douglas V. Austin to give the annual Keller Lecture at TSU April 15
   Dr. Douglas V. Austin, Chairman and CEO of Austin Financial Services, Inc. (ASFI) will be the featured speaker at the annual Helen Keller Lecture at Troy State University on Tuesday, April 15.
   It is scheduled for 10 a.m. in the Claudia Crosby Theater on campus and the public is invited to attend.
   The Keller lecture is designed to promote awareness of people who excel in their chosen fields despite physical limitations. The lecture is sponsored by Troy State University, the Helen Keller Eye Research Foundation, the Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind and the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services.
   Dr. Austin is a nationally known speaker and is the author of 17 books in the areas of banking and corporate conflict and more than 700 published articles.
   Dr. Austin graduated from the University of Toledo College of Law in 1978. He achieved the professional designation of Chartered Financial Analyst and has served as President of the Financial Analysts Society of Toledo and the Midwest Finance Association. He received a bachelor’s degree in economics from Ohio Wesleyan University, a master’s degree in economics from Indiana University, and a joint Ph.D. in economics and business from Indiana University.
   While earning his graduate degree, he taught at Indiana University and then taught for two years at the University of Michigan before becoming an economist with the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland. He left the Federal Reserve in 1967 and then returned to Western Michigan University until 1969 when he became Chairman of the Department of Finance at the University of Toledo. In July 1989, he retired after 20 years of service with the University of Toledo.
   Dr. Austin currently serves as Professor Emeritus and teaches one semester a year at the University of Toledo and is a board member of the National Industries for the Blind.
   Dr. Austin and his wife, Gayle, live in Toledo, Ohio.
