Anderson receives Troy State University's Ingalls Award

John “Doc” Anderson, Director of the Athletic Training program at Troy State University, is the 2002-03 recipient of the Ingalls Award for Excellence in Classroom Teaching, the university's most prestigious honor for faculty members.

Anderson, a resident of Troy, was presented the award at the 2003 Honors Convocation, held recently in the Claudia Crosby Theater on the TSU campus.

The Ingalls Award is given annually to the TSU teacher who has “most diligently, effectively and cheerfully conducted his or her classes during the current academic year. Students nominate faculty members for the award. A committee of students and faculty advisers selects the recipient.

Anderson was head track coach and athletic trainer at TSU from 1967-79. He served as head athletic trainer at Louisiana State University from 1979-89 before returning to TSU as a faculty member in the athletic training program.

He has served on the medical staffs of both the United States Olympic Team and the United States Pan-American Games team. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Auburn University and his master’s degree at TSU.

He and his wife, Susan, have two children, Cindy and John.
