to Present Artwork in Troy State University Exhibitions |
The
Troy State University Juried Student Exhibition and the TSU Senior
Thesis Exhibition of the Department of Art and Design of the College
of Communication and Fine Arts will be begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec.
2 and will continue through Thursday, Dec. 12.
The juried exhibition will be in the Hawkins-Adams-Long Hall of
Honor. It invites all art and design students to submit entries. The art and
design faculty will then select which pieces will be displayed in the show.
The Senior Thesis Exhibition will be in the Malone Gallery
of Fine Arts and will display the final projects of TSU senior art students.
The official reception for the show will be on Thursday, Dec. 11, from 6-8 p.m.
An opening reception at 6 p.m. on Dec. 2 in Hawkins-Adams-Long
Hall of Honor will be the start of the exhibitions and will occur before the
annual Sounds of the Season concert in Claudia Crosby Theater at 7:30 p.m.
The senior thesis exhibits are as follows:
Anita Pitts of Opelika, “Creative Transformation: An
exploration of how hairstyles have been influenced by culture”;
Wanda Garrett of Dothan created her artwork on large Luon
doors and is a statement about elderly, spousal, animal and child abuse;
Rhonda Kale of Dothan, “Message Vessels,” printmaking
on clay dealing with a variety of themes in nature;
Marc Johnson of Troy has created an exhibit that fuses art
with music by illustrating five songs with oil paint;
Leigh Ann Hillabrand of Dothan, “Percussive Accents,” illustrating
different variations of a Djembe Drum using clay, fiberglass, wood, metal and
acrylic;
Martin Brown of Dothan created his work using salvaged motorcycle
parts and turned them into lighting fixtures and other pieces of furniture;
Kristen Hughes of Dothan created a photography exhibit about
the similarities between Wal-Mart and the Louis Carroll Story, “Alice in
Wonderland;”
and Christopher Cox of Troy, “Emotions of the Game,” using
posters to show the relationship between football and everyday life.
