interested in performing with the Troy State University dance team
during spring semester are invited to audition for the group Friday,
Dec. 5. The auditions will take place in the dance room of the Elm Street gym, located on the TSU campus, beginning at 4 p.m. The cost of the audition will be $10 per participant, due at the time of the try-out. According to TSU Auxiliary Advisor Carol Franks, candidates will be expected to perform basic dance movements, including pirouettes, leaps, split leaps, axels, fuetes, toe touches and lay backs. They will be taught a new dance routine and then judged on their ability to learn the steps quickly and accurately. Participants should also prepare an original two-minute dance routine, displaying a variety of dance styles, to perform at the audition. Individuals are responsible for selecting and providing their own music for this routine, and should bring a labeled cassette tape or CD copy of the music to the audition. Members of the Fall 2003 TSU dance line must re-audition to secure a place on the Spring 2004 team. Those selected for the new team will be required to enroll in a one- hour dance class during the spring semester. All girls are asked to wear proper dance attire to the audition, as t-shirts and shorts will be unacceptable. The team will perform at sporting events, including men's home basketball games and various other engagements throughout the semester.
