Annual Sounds of the Season Holiday Concert December 2
The signaling of the arrival of the holiday season at Troy State University will begin with the annual Sounds of the Season holiday concert, presented by the College of Communication and Fine Arts, on Tuesday, Dec. 2 at 7:30 p.m. in Claudia Crosby Theater.
The concert will feature the TSU Collegiate Singers, Symphony Band, Chamber Choir and Gospel Choir.
Adult admission is $5 and children are admitted free. All TSU students receive free admission with a valid TSU ID.
The holiday concert is open to all members of the Troy community and will feature old favorites as well as original compositions.
“Sounds of the Season has become a tradition at Troy State, signaling the end of the semester and the beginning of the holiday season,” Hal Fulmer, Dean of the College of Communication and Fine Arts, said. “It is a pleasure to present this as a holiday gift to TSU and the Troy community.”
The concert will include the Symphony Band performing “Santa's Song,” a medley of holiday favorites, “In the Bleak Midwinter” and an original composition by Ralph Ford, director of bands at TSU, “A Winter Rhapsody.”
The Jazz Ensemble will play a version of “Sleigh Ride” arranged by legendary big band leader Glenn Miller, “Hark the Herald Angels Swing” and “Christmastime is Here,” made popular by the long-running television special “A Charlie Brown Christmas.”
The Symphony Band and Collegiate Singers will perform “White Christmas” as the finale.
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to a food bank in the area.
The annual Christmas tree lighting will take place in the lawn in front of Claudia Crosby Theater after the concert. Refreshments will be served.
