Erin Turner wins Miss TSU crown
    Erin Turner, a sophomore from Birmingham, was crowned Miss Troy State University Friday night at the 33rd annual Miss TSU Pageant held at the Claudia Crosby Theater on the TSU campus. Current Miss Alabama Catherine Crosby served as the emcee for the pageant, which followed the theme “In the Lights of Broadway.”
    Turner, a theatre major, was one of 14 TSU students competing for the title. She is a graduate of Hoover High School and a member of Alpha Gamma Delta social sorority. She was sponsored by Farmhouse fraternity.
    The other top five finishers were:
    First runner up—Mary Ann Henderson, of Troy, a senior majoring in political science/criminal justice;
    Second runner-up—Lucy Skellet, of Springville, a sophomore who also tied for first place with Turner in the talent competition;
    Third runner-up—Laura McDonald, a freshman from Prattville; and
    Fourth runner-up—Tamara C. Greenwood, a senior from Dothan.
    Marshall Moore, a senior broadcast journalism major from Banks, was named Miss Congeniality.
    As Miss Troy State University, Turner will compete for the title of Miss Alabama in June. The Miss Alabama Pageant is a preliminary for the Miss America competition to be held in Atlantic City, N.J.
