   Troy State University awards African-American Fellowships
   Troy State University will award three $45,000 African-American Fellowships during a ceremony at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 21, in the Hawkins-Adams-Long Hall of Honor on the TSU campus.
   The African-American Fellowship program, which began in 1996, was created to recruit and support African-American doctoral candidates who desire to teach at Troy State University. One fellowship is presented annually by TSU campuses in Troy, Dothan and Montgomery. The university provides a $45,000 fellowship to support the individual’s doctoral studies and research. Upon completion of their doctoral degrees, the fellowship recipients will become full-time faculty members for a minimum of three years.
   Receiving the fellowships will be: Carolyn Jean Andrews of Ozark, Delmonize Antonio Smith from Tuscaloosa and Martha L. Turner from Pansey, Ala.
