School of Nursing to hold Health Fair at Montgomery Mall The Troy State University School of Nursing is teaming up again with the Montgomery Mall to host the annual Health Fair at the mall Saturday, Oct. 25 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Judith Cooper, Assistant Professor of Nursing and organizer of the event, said free testing will be available for diabetes, cholesterol levels, bone density, blood pressure, body fat analysis and lung function. Flu shots will be available for $10, she said, adding that only 250 shots will be available. “This is a community service project for the school of nursing,” Cooper said. “Our students actually do the tests under the supervision of our faculty. This is a great experience for our students and a chance to give back to the community.” Cooper said that free vision and scoliosis screening will be offered this year for the first time. “We are always looking at services that the public may need,” she said. “The Health Fair is our most visible public-service project and we try to make it bigger and better every year.” |
