Bookout
is new Vice Chancellor for Financial Affairs at TSU
James Marshall Bookout has been named Vice Chancellor
for Financial Affairs at Troy State University, according to Dr. Jack
Hawkins, Jr., Chancellor.
“We are pleased that Mr. Bookout has agreed to take this
important position at TSU,” Chancellor Hawkins said. “His experience
at all levels of the financial side of higher education made him a good candidate
to lead us in this vital area.”
In this role, Bookout will serve as chief financial officer
for all TSU campuses and sites. He will direct a variety of financial functions,
including budget management and annual budget reporting for the Executive Budget
Office, the Legislative Fiscal Office and the Alabama Commission on Higher Education.
Bookout’s duties will also include oversight of preparation of financial
statements, disbursements, purchasing and inventory control, human resources,
risk management, physical plant and student financial services.
Bookout comes to TSU from the Florida Institute of Technology
in Melbourne, where he served as controller. He has also served as the chief
financial officer and assistant treasurer of the Florida State University Foundation.
He also held senior administrative posts at other universities, including inspector
general at the University of Florida and the University of South Alabama.
Bookout worked as a certified public accountant prior to beginning
his career in higher education. He is licensed to practice in Florida and Texas.
Bookout is from Chipley, Fla., and holds bachelor’s degrees
in accounting and business management from Florida State University and the University
of West Florida. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public
Accountants, the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the National
Association of Accountants. He is the son of James and Evelyn Bookout of Panama
City, Fla., formerly of Chipley.
“It is an honor to receive this offer and to join an
impressive group of professionals as part of the executive management team at
TSU,” Bookout said.
