Korean missionary to speak at TSU Sept. 26
Troy State University’s Department of English will present its’ second speaker in conjunction with the U.S. State Department’s “Global Access Project.”
The speaker is Joon-Su “John” Kim, a missionary from Seoul, Korea. He will be lecturing about religious life in Korea. Kim will be speaking at 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26 in room 124 of McCall Hall.
TSU faculty, staff and students, as well as members of the general public, are invited to attend the lecture.
Kim lives in Florida and is affiliated with the First Korean Baptist Church in Enterprise. He conducts a dinner/Bible study that is aimed at international students, which meets every Friday at 6 p.m. in the Pace Hall lobby.
The “Global Access Project” was created by the U.S. Department of State in order to increase knowledge of American foreign policy and international issues as well as to encourage careers in civil and foreign services at the U.S. Department of State.
This is the second stage of a series of five lectures. The first was on Sept. 12. Approximately 75 people attended the first meeting.
"The first lecture was really fun, and I think that the audience enjoyed it,” said Scott Nokes, director of upper division literature at TSU, “One of my colleagues said that it had a Mardi-Gras atmosphere.”
