Nine Troy State University Students Selected for Intercollegiate Band

Nine students in the Troy State University Band program have been selected for the 2004 Southern Division Intercollegiate Band sponsored by the College Band Director National Association.

The nine students were selected through a taped CD blind audition.

Out of the nine students selected for the Intercollegiate Band, three were selected as principal chairs, representing the best collegiate musicians in the Southeast.

“ This is a great honor for these nine students,” said James Smith, Instrumental Music and Graduate Music Studies Coordinator at TSU. “It reflects the national caliber of TSU's instrumental music program.”

TSU Intercollegiate Band students:

  • Crystal Campbell of Panama City, Fla., principle chair, Piccolo 
  • Sarah Stoop of Mariana, Fla., Flute
  • Carrie Lyda of Dothan, a native of Scottsboro, principle chair, B-flat Clarinet
  • Daniel Holmes of Ozark, B-flat Clarinet
  • Rodney Linebarger of Hazlehurst, Ga., principle chair, Bassoon
  • Tony Hawthorne of Dothan, Tenor Saxophone
  • Melissa White of Troy, Horn
  • James Oliver of Tallahassee, Fla., Tuba
