February 18, 2004 Chinese officials visit TSU Wednesday Troy State University welcomed to campus Wednesday nine higher education officials from the People's Republic of China who are partners with TSU in a joint-degree program. The program, officially called the 1-2-1 Sino-American Joint Degree Program, allows students from partner Chinese universities to study their first year in China , spend their sophomore and junior years in Troy and then return home to China to complete their degree. The visit included campus tours and meetings with members of the TSU faculty and administration. The highlight of the visit was a convocation in the Hawkins-Adams-Long Hall of Honor, which featured remarks from Dr. Jack Hawkins , Jr., Chancellor, and Zong Wa , Director of the China Center for International Education Exchange. The Chinese officials also heard three students give their impression of the 1-2-1 program: Mai Derong, an art and design major; Miao Ting, a computer science major; and Ma Ying.
