Gen. James Sehorn, Georgia's first Inspector General and
a Viet Nam veteran, will speak at a convocation of the Sorrell College
of Business at Troy State University on Thursday at 10 a.m. The convocation
will be held in the Trojan Center Theatre on the TSU campus.
Gen. Sehorn, who earned a mater's degree in 1984 in Counseling
and Human Development from Troy State University Montgomery, was appointed to
the post created by Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue in an effort to promote accountability
and root out fraud and abuse in state government.
He began his military career in 1963 and served with the 20
th Tactical Fighter Wing in England before volunteering for duty in Southeast
Asia. In December of 1967, Sehorn's plane was shot down over North Vietnam,
and he spent the next 63 months as a prisoner of war. After his release in 1973,
he returned to active duty before joining the Air Force Reserves in 1976. Sehorn
retired in 1992 as director of operations.
The convocation is open to the public.
