All-American Boys Chorus to visit Troy Jan. 18
The All-American Boys Chorus has scheduled a performance of its patriotic show “Salute to America and Her Music!” for Sunday, Jan. 18 beginning at 2:30 p.m. in the Claudia Crosby Theater on the Troy State University.
The concert is sponsored by the Troy Arts Council. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students. For further ticket information, contact the John M. Long School of Music at 334-670-3322.
The 36-member ensemble, based in Cosa Mesa, Calif., is composed of boys ages 9 to 14. Their show features some of the best-known songs from America's musical history, including a patriotic tribute to the music of George M. Cohan and John Philip Sousa and a salute to America's veterans. The chorus will also perform familiar Broadway tunes such as “Tonight” from “West Side Story, “Ol' Man River” from “Showboat” and “Lida Rose” from “The Music Man.”
During its 32-year history, the California-based All-American Boys Chorus has completed 34 concert tours throughout North America, Europe and Japan. The chorus has appeared on the Disney Channel, in the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade, at the Calgary Stampede rodeo and in television and radio commercials for KFC, Mazda and TWA. The chorus also has four recordings on CD/cassette, including two compilations of Christmas music.
