Amy Philips-Redclift, Miss Mobile 2004 and a graduate student at
Troy State University , spent the recent holiday season helping raise
funds for Mobile-based charities
Philips-Redclift, who received her bachelor's degree from
TSU, raised more than $17,000 for the Salvation Army Angel Tree and $6,000 for
the Alabama Preschool for the Sensory Impaired.
Philips-Redclift produced the annual “A Christmas with Miss
Mobile,” which collected more than 600 toys and nearly 50 non-perishable
food items for the Salvation Army.
She planned the entire event and performed with Erin Turner,
Miss Troy State University 2004, and many other Mobile-area groups.
“Amy has done an outstanding job in planning
this annual event,” said Chuck Steelman, executive director of
the Miss Mobile preliminary. “She has a compassion for helping
those in need and that is evident with the amount of support she raised.”
Philips-Redclift was interviewed on WKRG-TV in Mobile by news
anchor/reporter Jennifer Jones-Abney, also a graduate of Troy State University
about her fund-raising event for the Sensory Impaired Center .
Philips-Redclift, a native of San Antonio , developed her platform
on disability awareness after experiencing a speech disability as a child. Her
platform builds the self-esteem of children with disabilities.
Amy will represent the city of Mobile in the 2004 Miss Alabama
pageant in June of 2004 in Birmingham . Last year, she was Miss Troy State University
and was named fourth runner-up to Miss Alabama and received a swimsuit preliminary
award.
