TSU names Skipworth to career services position

Troy State University recently named Jay Skipworth as the new coordinator of career services. Skipworth has been a career development counselor for TSU since January of 2002.

“Jay has great vision for career services,” said Susan Pierce, director of student development. “He is a hard worker and has wonderful rapport with the students.”

A native of Florence , Skipworth graduated with a master's degree in community counseling from the University of North Alabama and a bachelor's degree in communication arts: public relations with a minor in journalism from UNA.

“Because of his public relations background, Jay is going to be able to pull in people to maximize the career services department,” Pierce said.

He was a job pilot for the Northwest Alabama Rescue System at Northwest-Shoals Community College .

Skipworth is the editor for the Alabama Association of Colleges and Employers Newsletter. He also received the Outstanding New Professional Award and the AACE Success Awards 2003.

“Jay is going to take the office of career services in a new and great direction,” said Pierce.
