January 7, 2004 TSU social work program earns reaffirmation of accreditation A national commission has renewed its accreditation of Troy State University's bachelor's degree program in social work for the maximum numbers of years allowable, according to Ben Arellano, director of the program. The Council on Social Work Education recently notified TSU of its decision to reaffirm accreditation for eight years. The program received its initial accreditation from the Council on Social Work Education in 1987. “This is outstanding news for our program,” Arellano said. “This process requires our faculty to go through a rigorous self-study where every aspect of our program is evaluated. We are pleased with the results.” The process also includes a campus visit from a site team composed of faculty from other institutions, Arellano said. Dr. Ed Roach , Senior Vice Chancellor and Provost, said this news is further proof of the high academic standards TSU has set. “Dr. Don Jeffrey, Dean of the College of Health and
Human Services , Mr. Arellano and the other members of the social work faculty
are to be commended for the quality of our bachelor's degree program in social
work,” Dr. Roach said. Contact:
