Betz will speak about his research project “After a Decade,” which details the lives of artists 10 years after they leave a university.
“I put together an exhibition for a seminar I taught and the show picked up momentum and traveled to another nine galleries over five years,” Betz said.
“The main idea was to expose the students to the little known window of time after school where you make it or break it. This show, ‘After a Decade' includes artist statements and artists stories about surviving the ten years out of school."
A short ceremony is planned prior to the opening of the show on Monday to recognize the winners in the TSU Juried Student Exhibition, the 2004 ADDY Awards and scholarship recipients for the next academic year.

“The primary reason I'm excited about Mr. Betz's work is his philosophy in intermedia,” said Jerry Johnson , Chair of the Department of Art and Design at TSU. “His work in creating installations, non-traditional media, mixed media and multi-media go hand in hand with our own department's philosophy in making and presenting art. Mr. Betz's presence will only perpetuate the momentum.”
