Four TSU students receive Outstanding Female Leadership Awards

The Troy State University Student Government Association and the TSU chapter of the Alabama Federation of Democratic Women have chosen four TSU students as winners of the Outstanding Female Leadership Award.

Chanukah Gray, Meagan Flowers, Wini Morgan and Jennifer Lynch were chosen because of their dedication to various on-campus and off-campus activities while maintaining strong academic records, according to SGA Sen. Melanie Bennett. The winners and their families will be honored at a banquet on March 31.

Gray, a junior from Montgomery , is majoring in psychology. She is the president of Alpha Kappa Alpha, a member of Sigma Alpha Sigma, a Trojan Ambassador, on the TSU Judicial Committee, and was a member of the TSU SAVE Project. Gray is also involved in the Habitat for Humanity, Relay for Life, New Eyes for the Needy, Toys for Tots and Adopt-A-Family.

Flowers, a senior from Hoover , is majoring in psychology. She has been the president of Baptist Campus Ministries, director of Freshman Forum, and a SGA senator. Away from campus she is involved with the youth at Banks Baptist Church . Last summer she was a missionary in Australia . She is a volunteer for the Colley Senior Complex, Troy Health and Rehab and the Troy Housing Authority.

Lynch, a senior from Niceville , Fla. , is majoring in cell and molecular biology. She was member of the TSU cross country team and the indoor and outdoor track and field teams. She is a member of the Beta Beta Beta Honor Society, Mortar Board, National Collegiate Honor Society, Environmental Club, and a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee. Off campus, she is involved with the Habitat for Humanity, the Alabama High School Track and Field State Championship, volunteer with Smart Choices, and a volunteer at vacation Bible school.

Morgan, a senior from Montgomery , is majoring in secondary science education. She is a sister of the Chi Omega Sorority, a member of Alpha Lambda Delta, SGA Senate Clerk, Vice President of Campus Activities and a serves as a leader for IMPACT, TSU's orientation programs for new students. Away from campus she is a volunteer at Troy Housing Authority, a high school chemistry lab assistant and a Big Brothers/Big Sisters tutor.
