Troy University to kick off Homecoming Saturday with milestone
Troy University will kick off the weekend Homecoming activities on Saturday morning by marking a milestone. The University will hold its 50th homecoming parade beginning at 10 a.m.
All entries in the parade are encouraged to incorporate the TROY homecoming theme of “Give My Regards to TROY : A Broadway Homecoming,” and if possible, salute the milestone anniversary.
Line up for the parade will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the corner of South Three Notch and Montgomery streets and will travel the traditional parade route.
Pre-game festivities will begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday, including a performance by the Alumni Band and the crowning of the Homecoming Queen. The Trojans’ Homecoming match-up with Florida Atlantic University is scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. kickoff.
During halftime, TROY will honor three graduates and one special friend. Dr. Leon G. Davis of Montevallo, Amy Smith Parrish of Destin, FL, and Harrel McKinney of Montgomery will be honored as Distinguished Alumni of the Year, while Dothan’s Joe Thomas Malugen, co-founder of Movie Gallery, Inc., will be honored as the Honorary Alumnus of the Year .
