Troy University will debate the debate on october 13
Troy University ’s College Republicans, College Democrats and University Honor’s Alliance will host a viewing of the last Presidential debate between President Bush and Sen. Kerry in the Trojan Center Theatre on Wednesday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m.
“Dr. (Jim) Sherry, the adviser for the College Democrats, and I have seen other campuses do this and we thought it would be a good way to bring the university together to talk about important issues,” said College Republicans advisor, Dr. Kenneth LaBrant.
“We want this to be a way to increase Troy ’s political dialogue.  This will be a situation where students feel free to speak up about the issues.” Dr. Sherry added.
There will be a mixer at 7 p.m. before the debate.  “This will help people break the ice and begin talking,” LaBrant said.
The debate will last from 8-9:30, then students will have the opportunity to share their opinions of the debate from 9:30-10:30 .  There will be microphones set up and students will have 30 seconds to speak.  The floor will alternate between Democrats and Republicans.  A faculty member will serve as the moderator.
