October 11, 2004 Troy University will debate the debate on october 13 Troy University ’s College Republicans, College Democrats and University Honor’s Alliance will host a viewing of the last Presidential debate between President Bush and Sen. Kerry in the Trojan Center Theatre on Wednesday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. “Dr. (Jim) Sherry, the adviser for the College Democrats, and I have seen other campuses do this and we thought it would be a good way to bring the university together to talk about important issues,” said College Republicans advisor, Dr. Kenneth LaBrant. “We want this to be a way to increase Troy ’s political dialogue. This will be a situation where students feel free to speak up about the issues.” Dr. Sherry added. There will be a mixer at 7 p.m. before the debate. “This will help people break the ice and begin talking,” LaBrant said. The debate will last
from 8-9:30, then students will have the opportunity
to share their opinions of the debate from 9:30-10:30
. There
will be microphones set up and students will have 30 seconds to speak. The floor will alternate between Democrats
and Republicans. A faculty member
will serve as the moderator. |
