Avington Hart crowned Miss Troy University
Avington Hart was crowned Miss Troy University Sunday afternoon at the 34th annual Miss Troy University pageant to earn the right to represent the University in the Miss Alabama Pageant.
Miss Hart, a junior from Evergreen, is the daughter of Bill and Ruth Hart. A junior majoring in history, Miss Hart is a graduate of Hillcrest High School . She is a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority.

. Contestants competed in talent, swimsuit,
interview, evening wear and on-stage question.

members of the top five were:
First runner-up Tara Golson of Montgomery , who also received the People’s Choice Award. Miss Golson, the daughter of William and Kathy Golson, is a junior majoring in communication arts; - Second runner-up Amber Lynn Dodson of Cullman, the daughter of Greg and Lisa Dodson. She is a sophomore at Troy University majoring in nursing;
- Third runner-up Mary Ann Henderson of Troy . Miss Henderson is the daughter of Kurt and Joan Henderson and is a graduate student at Troy University pursuing a master’s degree in public administration;
- Fourth runner-up Laura McDonald of
Prattville
,
the daughter of Bubba and Gail McDonald. She
is a sophomore majoring in biology. Miss
McDonald was the winner in the swimsuit competition.
Candace Hawes of Mobile
,
the daughter of David and Rosemary Hawes, was the winner in the talent
competition. She performed a baton and dance routine to “Pray for
Love.”
Maegan Hoff of Deatsville, the daughter of Fred and Danella Hoff, was voted Miss Congeniality.
Shannon Camper, Miss
Alabama 2004, served as emcee for the pageant .
