Troy University professors’ sculpture showcased in Mobile exhibition
The sculpture of Troy University’s Larry Percy and Duane Paxson will be featured in the Southeastern Juried Exhibition beginning Friday, Oct. 15, at the Mobile Museum of Art.
An opening reception will kick off the exhibition, which features 103 works of art chosen from the more than 600 entries received from throughout the Southeast.
Paxson, a past adjunct professor at Troy University , and Percy, a current assistant professor of art and design, introduced a proposal two years ago to put together a two-person show, featuring their sculpture. The result was the show “Sticks and Stones,” featuring about 20 pieces from each artist. Paxson sculpts with wood and fiberglass, while Percy uses ceramics.
In addition, the two will be giving a “brown bag” gallery talk at the Mobile Museum at noon on Friday.
The reception will be held in from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday. “Sticks and Stones,” will be on display through Nov. 21.
