October 8, 2004 Troy University graduate awarded Phi Kappa Phi Award of Excellence Sheena Richards, a 2004 graduate of Troy University , has been awarded the Phi Kappa Phi Award of Excellence. This distinguished award is a part of the honor society’s graduate fellowship program and awards each recipient a $2,000 scholarship for graduate school. Phi Kappa Phi was founded in 1897 and is dedicated to recognizing academic excellence in all fields of higher education. It is the oldest, largest and most selective all-discipline honor society in the United States Richards, of Dothan , was chosen out of 154 applicants for one of the 40 scholarships. In addition to the scholarship, Richards is a past recipient of the Virgil Collins Outstanding Senior Award and the Millennium Scholar’s Award and served as the 2003-2004 president of the Square Root of C Math Club at TROY . Richards has been published multiple times in the Alabama Journal of Mathematics and has made presentations throughout the Southeast. She has spoken at 2003 and 2004 annual meetings of the Alabama Association of College Teachers of Mathematics, the Western Kentucky University Mathematics Symposium in 2003 and two Troy University mathematics seminars. She is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. James Branton and is currently enrolled in graduate school at
