Risk Management and Insurance Studies Program Symposium set October 16
   The Risk Management and Insurance Studies Program at Troy University will hold its fifth annual Insurance Symposium at Orange Beach on Saturday, Oct. 16, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
   “This symposium will allow Troy University students to interact with insurance students from other schools while giving industry executives an opportunity to meet students interested in possible internship opportunities,” said Dr. Carol Jordan, eminent scholar of risk management and insurance.
   Tony Markel.  Markel, president and chief operating officer at the Markel Corporation, will serve as the keynote speaker.  Markel Corporation includes Essex Insurance Company; Markel Insurance and Markel Reinsurance in Richmond, Virginia; Investors Underwriting Managers in New Jersey; Markel American in Wisconsin; Markel International in London and Bermuda;  Markel Southwest Underwriters in Scottsdale; and Shand Morahan in Chicago.
   Other guest speakers include Fran O’Connell, vice president of underwriting at Shand Morahan; John Latham, senior vice president and chief information officer of Markel Corporation; Richard Bouhan, executive director of NAPSLO; Amy Sabiers, transportation underwriter, Scottsdale Insurance; Darragh Gray, manager of worldwide markets at Lloyd’s of London; Jerry Sullivan, chairman of Gerald J. Sullivan and Associates; John DiBiasi, executive vice president of underwriting and agency relations at Nautilus Insurance.
