Collegiate Singers and Chambers Choir to perform at Festival in Birmingham
The Troy University Collegiate Singers and Chamber choir will travel to Birmingham on Thursday, Nov. 4, to participate in the Second annual Collegiate Choral Festival sponsored by the Alabama chapter of the American Choral Directors Association.
The choirs will be directed under the Troy Director of Choral Activities, Paul McGahie.  They will perform for an audience of their peers from other universities and colleges across Alabama .
The Collegiate Choral Festival is scheduled for Bluff Park Methodist Church .  The public is invited to attend any of the daylong activities for free.
The Alabama Collegiate Choral Festival was conceived one year ago as a non-competitive event allowing all of Alabama ’s college and university choirs to share their individual style of music-making with each other. Choirs from 12 schools have been chosen to perform solos during the day, including Troy University .  The festival will close with all 500-plus college students forming one choir under the direction of the guest conductor, Dr. Jerry McCoy of North Texas State University .
McGahie serves on the Board   of Directors for the Alabama chapter of Alabama Directors Choral Association and serves as co-chair of the Collegiate Choral Festival along with Dr. Mark Brown of Shelton State College in Tuscaloosa .
