October 18, 2004 Collegiate Singers and Chambers Choir to perform at Festival in Birmingham The
Troy University Collegiate Singers and Chamber choir will travel to
Birmingham
on
Thursday, Nov. 4, to participate in the Second annual Collegiate Choral
Festival sponsored by the
Alabama
chapter
of the American Choral Directors Association. The choirs will be directed under the Troy Director of Choral Activities, Paul McGahie. They will perform for an audience of their peers from other universities and colleges across Alabama . The Collegiate Choral Festival is scheduled for Bluff Park Methodist Church . The public is invited to attend any of the daylong activities for free. The Alabama Collegiate Choral Festival was conceived one year ago as a non-competitive event allowing all of Alabama ’s college and university choirs to share their individual style of music-making with each other. Choirs from 12 schools have been chosen to perform solos during the day, including Troy University . The festival will close with all 500-plus college students forming one choir under the direction of the guest conductor, Dr. Jerry McCoy of North Texas State University . McGahie serves on
the Board of Directors for
the Alabama
chapter
of Alabama Directors Choral Association and serves as co-chair of the Collegiate
Choral Festival along with Dr. Mark Brown of Shelton State College in
Tuscaloosa
