Miss Troy University Pageant to be held October 31
Miss Troy University 2005 will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 31, at Claudia Crosby Theater, according to Sara Jo Burks and Brenda Campbell, co-directors of this year’s pageant.
“This year’s pageant will feature songs from different eras including jazz, Motown, and the ‘80s,” Campbell said. “We hope that everyone in the audience can find at least one song that they identify with.”
The categories that the contestants will compete in include interview, talent, evening wear, swimsuit and on-stage question.
There will also be a People’s Choice award that the audience will select by placing a $1 vote for the contestant of their choice with the proceeds of the vote being awarded to the contestant with the most votes.
The winner of the Miss Troy University Pageant will receive one year of full tuition, paid entry to the Miss Alabama pageant and various other prizes.
The pageant is open to all full-time female Troy University students ages 17-24.  There is a $25 sponsorship fee required for entry.  Applications can be downloaded from the official pageant website which can be accessed by following the student life link on www.troyst.edu. Applications are due Oct. 11.
The Miss Troy University pageant is part of the Miss America pageant system and will be judged by judges certified by the Miss Alabama Pageant.
