September 1, 2004 Troy University professors to lead Music South Symphony Orchestra Dr. James and Ginger Zingara, faculty members of the John M. Long School of Music at Troy University , have been appointed music directors of the Music South Symphony Orchestra. “We are both very happy with the opportunity to work with a group of musicians this talented,” said Dr. James Zingara. Founded in 2000, the orchestra is made up of musicians from the Tallahassee , Northwest Florida, Pensacola and Montgomery Symphonies. “These musicians are professionals, which is something new to us because we are used to working with amateurs,” said Zingara. As a husband and wife team, the Zingaras have collaborated on many other musical projects including leading the Dothan-based Tri-State Community Orchestra, the Troy Symphony Orchestra and the recently formed Wiregrass Youth Orchestra Project. Dr. James Zingara is assistant professor of trumpet and conducts the Troy University Trumpet Ensemble while his wife teaches music theory and general music. The Zingaras also
serve as the hosts for the WTSU radio show “BandWorld,” which airs
