Odyssey awaits new Troy University Students

TROY Comedian and Troy University alumnae Lynne Koplitz will take students on an “Odyssey” at 3 p.m. Aug. 21 in Trojan Arena.

Odyssey serves as the official welcoming and convocation for new TROY students, and Koplitz will provide the session’s keynote address.

“Odyssey will communicate to students the significance of their educational pursuits and extend the strong support of the University toward those pursuits,” said Dean of Admissions Buddy Starling. “Lynn Koplitz will demonstrate that a strong education opens doors of opportunities for our graduates.”

Koplitz, who lives in New York City , hosts her own half-hour Comedy Central Presents, and hosts for the syndicated Life & Style with Kimora Lee Simmons. This year she has, for the second time, appeared at the prestigious Montreal Just for Laughs Festival, and has performed at HBO’s U.S. Comedy Arts Festival and Live at the Kennedy Center .

She has been the host of the dating show Change of Heart and How to Boil Water on The Food Network. After graduating from TROY , she moved to New York aiming to enter theatre, but turned to stand-up comedy on whim. Her television appearances include NBC’s Later, Comedy Central’s Premium Blend & Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn, and the Metro Channel’s New Joke City with Robert Klein.

A reception for parents and students will follow the Odyssey ceremonies.
