Troy University student crowned Miss Alabama Agriculture

TROY - Troy University junior Melissa Moore was recently crowned Miss Alabama Agriculture during the closing session of the 84th annual meeting of the Alabama Farmers Federation in Mobile.

Moore, the daughter of Ricky and Kathy Moore of Deatsville, represented Elmore County in the pageant.  As the winner, she received a $2,000 scholarship and the use of a 2006 Chevrolet TrailBlazer for the next year.  Moore will represent Alfa Farmers at a variety of events during the upcoming year promoting the state’s agriculture industry. She also will represent the Alabama Farmers Federation at county and state meetings and will serve as an ex-officio member of the State Young Farmers Committee.

A junior majoring in broadcast journalism and public relations, Moore is involved in Phi Mu sorority, SGA, Trojan Ambassadors, National Broadcasting Society, Advertising and Public Relations Society and Delta Epsilon Iota and Order of Omega honor societies. She holds Leadership and Student Government Association scholarships, as well as a scholarship presented by the Coosada Baptist Church.

Moore said she was honored to represent the Alabama Farmers Federation and the state’s agriculture industry.

“I know that being Miss Alabama Agriculture is going to be an amazing experience, and I am looking forward to every minute of it,” she said. “I am truly thankful to have this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
