The John M. Long School of Music at Troy University and the Troy Council on the Arts will present the fourth annual Festival of Brass Concert on Feb. 26 at 7:30 p.m. in the Claudia Crosby Theater.
The program will feature performances by Dr. Michael Tunnell, of the University of Louisville , on the trumpet, Joseph Hughes, of the Greenville Symphony, on trombone and Dr. James Zingara, on trumpet and Mark Walker on euphonium, both of Troy University.
The Brass Symposium is the biggest brass recruitment effort by the Troy University John M. Long School of Music, and students from throughout Alabama , Florida and Georgia are expected to attend. “It is important for students to know brass playing on all levels and to see us involved,” Dr. James Zingara said.
In addition, the Troy University Chamber Winds, the TROY Trumpet Ensemble and several honors ensembles made up of area high school students will perform.
“We try to give students as many musical experiences as possible on campus,” Zingara said. “It gives them the opportunity to see and experience Troy University .”
The concert will conclude with a mass finale comprised of more than 100 performers.
