what’s been called "quite the sunniest and most uplifting
hour and a half of theatre..." by

Standard, Snoopy! The Musical, will appear on the
Troy
University
stage in the Trojan Center Theatre
on Feb. 24 and 26 at 7:30 p.m.
It’s cast of
characters includes the legendary roles of Lucy, Linus, Charlie Brown, Snoopy,
Peppermint Patty, Sally, as well as
Franklin
,
Frieda, Pig Pen, Schroeder,
Woodstock
, Marcie, and Shermie and songs such
as “Edgar Allen Poe” and “Just One Person”.
TROY
’s production of Snoopy! The Musical
will also include six performances for local and regional elementary schools
provided through a grant from the Alabama Council on the Arts.
Snoopy! The Musical,
the sequel to the musical, You’re A
Good Man Charlie Brown, again brings the wonderful world of Schulz
to life. Written by Warren Lockhart, Arthur Whitelaw, and Michael L. Grace with
a big band jazz-style score by Larry Grossman (best known for scoring The Muppet Show) and Hal Hackady, the musical
will be directed by
Troy
University
’s Director of Theatre
Adena Moree. Georgia Mallory, who plays the role of Lucy, also will serve as
music director for the production. Choreography is by Tori Lee. Also, the costumes
will be designed by John Patton, lighting and sound by Chris Rich and set design
by Charles Yeager, a sophomore at
Troy
University
.
Peanuts comic strips are still published in 2,400
newspapers worldwide. Peanuts made
its debut on Oct. 2, 1950, appearing in just seven
U.S.
newspapers.
The strip celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2000. On Jan. 3, 2000, Charles Schulz
bid a fond farewell to all his readers in the final daily Peanuts newspaper strip. On Feb. 12, 2000
Charles Schulz died at age 77. On Feb. 13, 2000, the final Peanuts newspaper
strip appeared.
Snoopy! The Musical
will be at the Trojan Center Theatre for only two public performances. Reserved
