July 1, 2005 Troy University Hosts Summer Spectacular for Children
During the Troy University Summer Spectacular, Early Childhood Education Major Keisha Isom of Blakely, Ga., looked on as Tiffany Li of Dothan painted a mural. Participants in the summer program, which is being held at Honeysuckle Middle School in Dothan, researched the City’s murals before designing their own.
Troy University Early Childhood Education Major Kayla Carr helped Austin Outlaw of Dothan fashion a papier-mache dragon during Summer Spectacular. As part of the “Sweet Home Alabama” study theme, students gathered information about Mobile’s Mardi Gras celebration and completed a variety of hands-on projects. Approximately one hundred children are participating in the summer program offered by Troy University.
As part of Summer Spectacular, Troy University Early Childhood/Elementary Education Major Olivia Stacy of Geneva helped Morgan Hill of Dothan build a reproduction of the fountain at Bellingrath Gardens near Mobile. Children, ages four to eleven, are studying about Alabama during the summer program, while TROY education majors are gaining valuable experience in the classroom. |
