Troy , Ala. – Troy University ’s Department of Art and Design will play host to the Alabama Visual Arts Achievement District II competition this week.

The exhibition will open on Tuesday in the Malone Gallery. More than 150 works were submitted for competition by students in 17 central and south Alabama middle and high schools. An awards and recognition ceremony will be held on Saturday, March 12 at 1:30 p.m. in Malone Gallery. The public is invited to attend.

  District winners will be exhibited in the Alabama State Council on the Arts gallery April 4-29, with state awards and recognition ceremonies being held April 29 in Montgomery .

  The competition is made possible in part through a grant received from the Alabama Arts Alliance, which is co-funded through the Alabama State Council on the Arts.
