Troy
University
’s Hall School of Journalism has named its annual symposium, which is scheduled for April 7, in honor of longtime adjunct faculty member M. Stanton Evans.
The symposium, officially named the “M. Stanton Evans Symposium on Money, Politics and the Media,” will begin at 10 a.m. in the Claudia Crosby Theater. A reception will be held at
9:30 a.m.
in the theater’s lobby.
Stanton, who is a guest speaker for this year’s event, has served as an adjunct professor of journalism since 1980. He is a graduate of
Yale
University
with an English degree.
Stanton
has held many prestigious positions in the journalism industry including editor of the Indianapolis News for 15 years, director of the
National
Journalism
Center
, columnist of the Los Angeles Times and national commentator for CBS Radio News and National Public Radio. He is also the author of eight books, the last being “The Theme is Freedom.”
Ralph Black, former adjunct professor for the Hall School of Journalism and on-air personality for WTBF and WTSU, will serve as moderator. He currently does play-by-play announcements for WTBF and is also a member of the Troy Community Band.
