TROY—Troy University’s Collaborative Studio Class will host an art show for the
sensory impaired beginning on Monday, Dec. 5 at the Troy Cultural Arts Center.
According to Gregg Skaggs, assistant professor of art and design, the show includes the artwork of art and design students of Troy University. Students’ majors range from
graphic design, sculpture, painting, photography to digital art and design technology and
industry.
“The collaborative experience is unique as students work together to create a cohesive visual exhibition,” he said. In preparation for the exhibit, students conducted research on the sensory impaired. The results are works of art that use visually rich colors, sound, and some that can be touched.
“Sometimes even those who can see have a difficult time 'seeing.' Our hope is that this show will give the viewer a new and unique art show experience,” said Skaggs.
The show opens on Monday, Dec. 5 at 1 p.m. A traditional show opening with
refreshments provided is set for 5 p.m. The show will continue through Dec 9, opening at 1 p.m. and closing at 5 p.m. each day. The event is free and open to the public.
The Troy Cultural Arts Center is located on the corner of Elm and Walnut streets.
