TROY -- The Troy University Woodwind Quintet will have its first full recital of the semester at 6 p.m. Nov. 27 in the Hawkins-Adams-Long Hall of Honor.
The recital consists of works by Percy Grainger, Reinhold Gliere, Aaron Coplan, Johann Strauss, Malcolm Arnold, and Gustav Holst as performed by Leann Sanders, flute, Rodney Linebarger, oboe, Janie Winsell, clarinet, Jeremy Snell, horn and Hayley Canterbury, bassoon.
Sanders received her master of science degree in conducting from Troy University and her bachelor of arts degree in music from Hendrix College in Conway, Ark. She is currently an adjunct music professor at Troy University and secretary of the math and science departments at the University.
Linebarger received his bachelor's degree in music education from Troy University, and is currently working toward his masters in conducting while serving as a graduate assistant for the School of Music band programs.
Winsell is a senior from Tanner pursuing a bachelors degree in music education. She has served as a clarinetist in Troy University Symphony Band and Chamber Wind ensembles as well as currently serving as principal clarinetist for the Troy Symphony Orchestra.
Snell is a senior from Troy pursuing a bachelors degree in music education. He has served as co-principal horn for the Symphony Band and Chamber Winds ensembles as well as performed for numerous ensembles in and outside of the University setting.
Canterbury is a music education senior from Pensacola, Fla.. She has served as principal bassoonist for the Troy University Symphony Band and Chamber Winds ensembles for the past 2 years and has studied with such renowned bassoonists as Michel Bettez` of the Conservatory of Montréal Orchestra and Jeff Keeseker of Florida State University.
The recital is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served during intermission and after the performance.
