Two awarded sports medicine scholarships

TROY – Two Troy University athletic training students have been awarded scholarships from the American Sports Medicine Institute for 2005-2006.

Rachel Dockery, a senior from Tuscaloosa, and Jennifer Hogg, a senior from Ponce de Leon, Fla., will receive the scholarships from the Birmingham-based American Sports Medicine Institute in December.

“These are very deserving students, and the award of the ASMI scholarship to two TROY students speaks well of both their dedication to excellence and the athletic training program at the University,” said John Andrews, director of athletic training. “We congratulate them both on their accomplishments.”

Dockery, the daughter of Rusty and Vickie Dockery, maintains a 3.7965 grade-point average and is on the Provost’s and Chancellor’s lists. She has been nominated for Who’s Who and is a member of the Iota Tau Alpha, Mortar Board, Phi Kappa Phi and The National Dean’s Lists honor societies.

Hogg, the daughter of Douglas Hogg, has a 3.919 grade-point average and is the recipient of the Chancellor’s Award, the Gitenstein Scholarship, and is a member of Phi Kappa Phi, Iota Tau Alpha and the National Dean’s List honor societies. She is also a member of the University’s varsity track team.
