MONTGOMERY, AL —The Troy University Symphony Band has scheduled its annual musical salute to United States military veterans for Tuesday, Nov. 15, beginning at 7 p.m. at the Davis Theatre for the Performing Arts, according to Ralph Ford, director of bands.
Ford and the Associate Conductor of the Symphony Band, James Smith, will conduct this “Salute to our Armed Forces and Veterans.” This concert will include “Fanfare For Freedom,” Variations on “America,” and “Bugles and Drums,” among others.
Other highlights of the concert will include such old favorites as “America the Beautiful” and “The Stars and Stripes Forever,” which is the official march for the United States of America.
The concert is the first event for the Troy University Davis Theatre’s new University Series of events that showcases the talents of various Troy University student ensembles, according to Kristen Koehler, director for the theatre.
The symphony band will continue the tradition of presenting a medley of the service songs that represent each arm of our military. Veterans and families of veterans in the audience will be asked to stand when the song representing their branch of service is played.
Single tickets are now available for purchase. The ticket price is $10. In appreciation for the military stationed in Montgomery, a $5 discount would be given to all military personnel with valid identification.
