TROY -- Troy University has named four distinguished alumni of the year for 2005.

This year’s recipients include Mrs. Anne Kelly Williams, a 1950 graduate; Mr. Roy J. Crawford, a 1971 summa cum laude graduate; Hon. Patti M. Smith, a 1973 graduate and Supreme Court Justice; and Mr. Arthur D. Baylor, a 1977 and 1990 graduate.

The four will be honored during special Homecoming ceremonies on Nov. 5 when the Trojans take on Florida Atlantic at 2 p.m.

“We’re extremely proud of our distinguished alumni and their accomplishments. It’s a pleasure to honor them on homecoming day,” said Faith Ward, director of alumni affairs. “Each of them are outstanding ambassadors for Troy University.”

Williams, of Troy, is a member of the Pike County, Crenshaw County, and the Greater Montgomery Area Alumni Chapter and is also involved with the Troy University Athletic boosters. She is also the mother of two children and five grandchildren.

Crawford is a member of the Trojan’s 1968 championship football team, a partner in a Birmingham law firm and a member of the American Bar Association. He and his wife Beverly have three daughters, Caroline, O'Neal and Margaret Ellen.

Smith was selected as the 1973 Outstanding female graduate, is a 2004 Associate Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court and a member of the Greater Birmingham Alumni Chapter. She is married to Jerry Smith and has two children, Shelley and Jarrett.

Baylor has more than 20 years experience in law enforcement and is the chief of police for the City of Montgomery. He was selected Kappa Man of the Year, and is a member of the Troy Montgomery campus alumni chapter.
